The power of nature
2022This work consists of 2 parts: a closed and an open/fallen dome. A bell jar as an imagination for being locked up as in a lockdown, no freedom of movement, closed, no air, grown full of stems, leaves, flowers and tendrils. The cocoons are like natural wombs as a hope for the future. In the 2nd phase the dome falls over and there is air, space and freedom. The flower stems and tendrils can continue to grow. There is a bottom covered with flowers. In the first three-dimensional dome, fully grown and closed with stems, leaves, wrappings and flowers, I added cocoons. The cocoons are like natural wombs as a hope for the future.
flooded world
2022The work depicts an abstracted globe, full of boats. Due to the rise in sea level, only sailing is possible. Boats with (climate) refugees “float”, also to the abyss. On the inside of the sphere, the bottom of the boats form mouths, lips. The water is literally on our lips.
Wave
2022A wave of refugees in boats. The work depicts a large wave in a storm on the raging sea. Boats with (climate) refugees are carried on the gulf. There is no awareness of above or below. The bottoms of the boats form mouths, lips. Shouting in a hurricane, the water at the lips. The wave is almost a lemniscate, infinite.
breath of life, connection, infinity
2018Following the theme of Life Breath I started experimenting with all kinds of materials and eventually I made a hanging object in the form of a spiral. The shape of the spiral symbolizes the flows between heaven and earth. The connection between the divine and man and the infinity of life. In the spiral there is a light source (in the shape of a heart, referring to the Luther heart) that slowly goes on and off, to the rhythm of the breath.

Nothing is what it seems...
2016Title: 'Nothing is what it seems... (if you look closely'.) (Source: line of poetry by the Utrecht writer C.C.S. (Cees) Crone (1914-1951) The forms of this work are “similar”, but the way they are presented makes them all appear different. In the theater people use illusion, even there nothing is what it seems. The forms are open and closed, just as the theater encloses and opens up new insights.
